Our Services

We focus exclusively on endodontics — every service we offer is designed to save your natural teeth with the most advanced care available in Tucson.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy is the most common procedure we perform, and it has an undeserved reputation for being painful. Under local anesthesia and with Dr. Ron's steady, precise technique, most patients tell us it was far easier than they expected.

The procedure involves removing the infected or inflamed pulp tissue from inside the tooth, cleaning and shaping the canals, and sealing everything to prevent re-infection. Dr. Malakpour performs every root canal under a surgical operating microscope for maximum accuracy.

After treatment you will return to your general dentist for a crown or permanent restoration to protect the tooth for the long term.

Endodontic Retreatment

Occasionally, a tooth that has already had a root canal does not heal the way we hoped, or a new problem develops months or even years later. This does not mean the tooth is lost.

Retreatment involves going back into the tooth, removing the old filling material, thoroughly re-cleaning the canals, and resealing them. With today's tools and techniques, retreatment gives most teeth a very good chance at lasting a long time.

If your dentist has referred you for retreatment, it means they believe the tooth is worth saving — and so do we.

Apicoectomy

An apicoectomy is a minor surgical procedure used when an infection at the very tip of a tooth root does not clear up after a standard root canal or retreatment.

Dr. Ron makes a small incision in the gum near the root tip, removes any infected tissue and the very end of the root, and seals it with a small filling. The gum is then sutured closed and healing typically takes just a few days.

It sounds more involved than it is. Most patients are surprised by how straightforward the recovery is. The procedure is done under local anesthesia and takes about 45 to 90 minutes.

Diagnosis & Consultation

Not every referral results in a root canal. Sometimes the most important thing we can do is give you an honest, thorough evaluation and a clear picture of what is going on with your tooth.

We use 3D cone beam imaging and surgical microscope evaluation to assess your situation accurately. Dr. Ron will walk you through exactly what he sees, what your options are, and what he recommends — without pressure.

Sedation Options

Dental anxiety is real, and we take it seriously. Nobody should white-knuckle their way through a procedure. We offer sedation options to make your visit as calm and comfortable as possible.

When you call to schedule, just let us know about any anxiety you have. We will talk through what is available and find the right approach for you before your appointment day.
